Our vision is a community where all children receive an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. The Wisdom Foundation supports the city's children and dedicated but at-risk families who want a better life for their children. Take a closer look at our programs and the children we serve. Be a part of the change we are making in Jackson.
Consider a donation to support the Wisdom Foundation and the important programs that offer hope for the children of Jackson. 100% of your tax deductible donation goes directly to the children. Your donation will make a difference. Visit with us and see the great things we are doing after school, Saturdays and summer. Farms For City Kids and The Wisdom Foundation, two great organizations creating opportunity for the children of Jackson.

The Wisdom Garden at Spann

The Wisdom Foundation applied for a grant through the
Farms for City Kids organization. This nonprofit has turned an old farm into a hands-on, real world science and math experience for elementary and middle school students from across the country. We have been awarded the grant and will travel to Vermont to spend 10 days in this unique learning environment. We leave at the end of June and are looking for donations to cover the travel expenses associated with the trip. Can you help? $300 covers it all for one child.

The kids love the Wisdom Garden and learn math, science, social skills and nutrition while having hours of fun. They work in the garden after school and on Saturdays. The Wisdom Garden has brought a wealth of knowledge and great pride to our Wisdom students.

Please consider a donation to the Vermont trip. The trip will cost $300 per student and we hope to take all 20. So far we have funding for five students thanks to the Isaacs, the Treleases, the Kellers, the Newburgers and all of the generous people who bought art at Arts On The Green this weekend. Add your name to the list and follow the trip on facebook as we head North this June. For more information on Farms for City Kids go to www.farmsforcitykids.org.

Donations needed!

Please help us get our students to Vermont this spring to experience 10 days on a classroom farm. This cost is $300 per child and we hope to take 20 children. This is a tax deductible donation to the Wisdom Foundation and 100% goes directly to the students.

Mission First -Upward Basketball

The Wisdom kids had a blast at Upward basketball this year. They started in February, played through April, and had a wonderful Banquet to end the season. There is no better place to expose our children to the important life lessons of taking turns, showing respect, being patient, winning, losing, failing and succeeding than on the basketball court. Thank you to the entire Mission First team but especially Coach Bridges for his dedication to the children of Jackson. See you next year.
Arts On The Green

All of our students worked for months on their bird houses and bookends. Inspiration came from the garden and the many books we have read over the past eight months. Every student had a unique style and process. Our booth at St. Andrew's Arts On The Green was visited by so many generous and kind people. We raised enough money to send two students to Vermont this spring to Farms For City Kids. Thank you to all the art supporters and artists who bought our art and inspired us. What a great opportunity.

Camp Wisdom
We are sorry to announce that there will not be a free Camp Wisdom at Spann this summer. We will however have an academic, enrichment and recreational program offered through Northtown Child Development Center on NORTHTOWN Dr. in Jackson.

Volunteer Hours

We are looking for reading and enrichment volunteers for the summer. Our goal is grade level and beyond by summers end. Help us make that happen. No experience necessary and high school students are welcome.
